To Know Better HAWACH QuEChERS Products
QuEChERS method
The pre-treatment method for pesticide residues–QuEChERS is the upgraded version of SPE. It has a similar purification effect to SPE, but the processing steps are more concise, time-saving, highly efficient, and economical, which are gradually accepted by the majority of analysts. Sample preparation for multi-class, multi-residue pesticide analysis can be accomplished using a kit that requires only a few simple steps.
HAWACH has independently developed the QuEChERS series, which covers two types of extraction kits and purification kits of AOAC 2007.01 and EN 15662.
HAWACH QuEChERS Product Advantage
• Pre-precise weighing of products, anhydrous ultra-clean packaging, improving the quality of results.
• Full range and specifications, in line with AOAC 2007.01, EN 15662 official operating methods, and selection guides to help you choose the right product.
• The inorganic salts and adsorbents used as raw materials are all certified to be the highest level of reagents of their kind, avoiding the introduction of interfering substances.
• The core products are packaged in light-proof and sealed materials and will not deteriorate due to placement and transportation.
• Long-term commitment to research and development of sample separation and purification, with strong technical strength.
Comparison of QuEChERS method with traditional SPE method
The QuEChERS method has the same purification effect as the solid phase extraction method, but the processing steps are obviously simplified, the solvent dosage is significantly reduced, the data accuracy is greatly improved, and the application range is greatly expanded. It is a high-throughput sample preparation method.
Traditional SPE method | QuEChERS | |
---|---|---|
Time consumption | Long time(100-120 min) | Short time(< 25 min) |
Organic reagent consumption | Large (60-90 ml) | Small (< 15 ml) |
Operation steps | Complicated(activation, loading, rinsing, elution) | Simple(extraction, purification) |
Sample concentration treatment | Yes | No |
Device consumption | Many(measuring cylinder, centrifuge tube, distillation bottle, water bath device, etc.) | Few(centrifuge tube) |
Application range | Wide | Currently limited to pesticide residue analysis |
Recovery rate | Higher | High, low for some compounds |
Purification effect | Better | Good |
HAWACH QuEChERS method principle
First extract the pesticide in the matrix with a single organic solvent (if necessary, add an appropriate amount of internal standard), then add the extraction salt to the matrix and shake it for centrifugation. Then adopt dispersive solid phase extraction and use PSA, C18, Carb and other adsorbents to purify and remove impurities such as fatty acids, pigments, carbohydrates, etc. from the components, and finally the supernatant is taken for analysis after centrifugation.
Typical use of HAWACH QuEChERS products
The following are the basic steps for completing the QuEChERS method on fruit and vegetable samples using two different methods, AOAC 2007.01 and EN 15662. Samples can be prepared for multi-class, multi-residue pesticide analysis in just a few steps.
AOAC 2007.01
1.Weigh 15g of homogeneous sample and add 15ml of ethyl acetate
2.Mix for 1 min, shake for 1 min
3.Add internal standard if necessary
4.Add HAWACH QuEChERS AOAC extract salt (6g MgSO4 + 1.5g NaCI)
5.Shake for 1 min, centrifuge for 1 min
6.Take 1ml of the supernatant and add to the HAWACH QuEChERS AOAC Purification Tube (50mg PSA + 150g MgSO4) or add according to the substrate (50mg C18/50 mg Carb)
7.Shake for 1 min, centrifuge for 1 min
8.Take the supernatant and wait for analysis
EN 15662
1.Weigh 10g of homogeneous sample and add 10ml of acetonitrile
2.Mix for 1 min, shake for 1 min
3.Add internal standard if necessary
4.Add HAWACH QuEChERS EN extraction salt (4g MgSO4+1g NaCI+1g sodium citrate +0.5g disodium hydrogen citrate)
5.Shake for 1 min, centrifuge for 5 min
6.Take 1 ml of the supernatant and add to the HAWACH QuEChERS EN purification tube (25 mg PSA + 150 g MgSO4) or add according to the matrix (25 mg C18/7.5 mg Carb)
7.Shake for 1 min, centrifuge for 5 min
8.Take the supernatant and wait for analysis
QuEChERS Product Selection Guide
When the QuEChERS method is selected for pesticide multi-residue pretreatment analysis, you only need to select both the extraction kit and the purification kit to achieve fast, easy and efficient sample preparation.
Step 1: Select the extraction kit
Normally, when we extract the target, we will add organic solvent and buffer salt to the matrix at the same time. However, when encountering a sample with a relatively large water content, the buffer salt will react exotherm with water, thus affecting the recovery rate. HAWACH QuEChERS products are available in a separate extraction salt package (pre-precise weighing, no water), and users can choose to add buffer salts after adding organic solvents. The extraction salt kits we offer include: AOAC and EN extraction kits
Step 2: Select the purification kit
The extracted mixture is removed by adsorption of a purification tube with 2ml and 15ml available. The purification kits we offer include: AOAC and EN purification kits
