The SPE column consists of a medical PP empty tube, medical PE sieve plate, fixed adsorbent (also called stationary phase), in which the adsorbent is imported raw material. Packing of SPE cartridge
The packings are usually chromatographic adsorbents and can be divided into three major categories: silica gel (eg C18, C8, etc.); high polymers, such as polystyrene – two Ethylene benzene, etc.; inorganic materials, such as Floris diatomaceous earth, alumina, graphitized carbon, and the like.
Capacity of SPE cartridge
The capacity must be considered when selecting an SPE column. In solid-phase extraction, the adsorbent adsorbs the target compound and adsorbs impurities of the same nature. Therefore, the target compound plus the total amount of impurities that can be adsorbed cannot exceed the column capacity when choosing the column capacity. Otherwise, some of the target compounds may not be adsorbed during the loading process, resulting in a low recovery rate.
Structure of SPE cartridge
Hawach SPE cartridge is composed of several parts, including cartridge pipe, screen pipe, absorber, adapter, sample storage device and other supporting devices. SPE cartridge components
Frequently used solid phase extraction cartridges(SPE cartridge) are mostly polyethylene-based injection syringes, which is equipped with two pieces of polypropylene or glass fiber. Operation of SPE cartridge
There is some general operation process of SPE cartridge that should be followed, specific as follows: first, the activation process, adding appropriate solvents to expand the functional groups on the absorbent and remove the possible interfering substances on the adsorbent; then, retention process.
when the sample substance passes through the absorbents, and the absorbents act on some compounds more than the latter acts on the solvents, these compounds are fixed by the absorbents; and elution process, through the absorbent, the solvent with strong absorption capacity is allowed to break the force between the absorbent and the retained compound, so as to achieve the best separation effect.
